Kun Shan University Hosts International Industry Talent Education Fair in the Philippines, Attracting International Students to Study in Taiwan
To attract more talented international students to study in Taiwan, the Ministry of Education launched the " International Industrial Talents Education Special Program (INTENSE Program)" last year. Kun Shan University (KSU), appointed as the lead school for this program's Philippines base, hosted the "2024 INTENSE Program Education Fair" on October 24 at EARIST University in Manila. The event brought together several partner schools from Taiwan to directly engage with Filipino students and educators, showcasing the diversity and appeal of Taiwan's higher education system.

The "2024 INTENSE Program Education Exhibition-Manila" made its grand debut in Manila. The event attracted the participation of more than 30 Philippine universities, nearly a hundred school representatives and more than 2,500 students.

In the current academic year, Taiwan's Ministry of Education initiated the 'Promotion of International Students to Come to Taiwan and Stay in Taiwan - International Industrial Talents Education Special Program,' commonly referred to as the 'New Specialized Programs". The program encourages universities to orient themselves towards the needs of the industry, expanding the admission of international students. Kun Shan University takes on the role of the lead institution for the Philippines Overseas Base in this project. On January 24, KSU hosted a visit with members of the Commission on Higher Education Philippines and conducted a signing ceremony with Rizal Technological University. This event solidified a strong foundation for collaboration, facilitating the smooth implementation of the new specialized programs.

As the lead institution for the Taiwan-Philippines International Talent Circulation Base, Kun Shan University, along with Cheng Shiu University and Minghsin University of Science and Technologyâ the deputy lead institutionsâorganized the Taiwan-Philippines University International Symposium on January 19 at the Makati base in the Philippines. The symposium aimed to promote 'new specialized programs' and enhance collaboration with various universities in the Philippines. During the event, each Taiwanese partner institution highlighted the distinctive features of its respective new specialized programs, generating enthusiastic responses from Philippine universities.

Kun Shan University (KSU) and its partner institutions, Cheng Shiu University and Minghsin University of Science and Technology, jointly held the unveiling ceremony for the Taiwan International Talent Circulation Base at the office in Makati, Philippines on February 5th. As the leading institution among the collaborating universities, Kun Shan University, together with the representatives from the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, gathered for this significant event to promote bilateral university talent exchanges and industry-academia collaboration between Taiwan and the Philippines, in alignment with Taiwan's National Development Council's "Enhancement of Population and Immigration Policies" and the Ministry of Education's plan to "Facilitate the Entry and Stay of International Students in Taiwan".
KSU Signs Talent Collaboration MOU with Sunonwealth Electric Machine Industry, Paving the Way for a Milestone in Taiwan-Philippine Industry-Academia Cooperation
Kun Shan University, in collaboration with Sunonwealth Electric Machine Industry Co., Ltd., a company dedicated to the development of energy-efficient motor technology, signed a "Talent Cultivation Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding" on November 27th. The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of Sunonwealth Electric Machine Industry Co., Ltd. and was witnessed by Ambassador Douglas Cheng-Tsung Shen, Director of the Southern Taiwan Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Atty. Karen Trayvilla, Director of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office, Kaohsiung Extension Office. The agreement was signed by President Tien-Shang Lee of Kun Shan University and Jin-Sih Wu, Executive Vice President of Sunonwealth Electric Machine, with the aim of fostering cross-border talent through collaborative efforts between the government, industry, and academia. The collaboration, facilitated through a new specialized program, seeks to inject new vitality into the country's sustainable development.

In accordance with the Ministry of Education's "Plan for International Student Enrollment and Retention," Kun Shan University is actively establishing overseas enrollment centers in the Philippines to facilitate the internationalization of Taiwan's education. On September 19th, President Lee Tien-Shang, accompanied by officials from the Office of Student Affairs and the International College, once again led a delegation to the Philippines to advance the plan. This visit garnered support from local officials, including the Governor of Zamboanga del Sur province and members of the Philippine parliament, highlighting the Ministry of Education's efforts to promote international education cooperation and inject new momentum into international education.

President Lee Tien-Shang led a delegation to the Philippines on August 14th to host the 'New Tailored Programs Education in Taiwan-Philippines Conference.' Over 60 distinguished guests, including Attorney Mark Tolentino, the Chief Advisor on Poverty Reduction of the Office of the President, attended the event, aiming to deepen academic exchanges between the two countries
